Mac OS X Mail.app POP
How to turn on SSL in Mac OSX Mail.app
We need to turn on SSL for both IMAP (incoming) and SMTP (outgoing) mail servers
Open Mail Preferences
Select Accounts
Add email account
Click the + Button
Ente your full name, email address and password for your email account
Select Account Type
Set the account type to IMAP
Incoming Server Details
Add a description ( this can be anything you want , but should reflect the account name and type)
Set the following
- incoming mail server: mail.netextras.com
- username: this shold be YOUR FULL email address ( the defualt here will only be the first part of your email address; before the @, make sure you entered the full address.
- password: password provided to you. ( this will usualy be set from the password you entered from the previous step and should be OK)
Click Continue
Outgoing mail server
if the previous step was successful you should be presented with th settings for the outgoing mail server
- Description: again anthing you like, but be desriptive
- Outgoing server: mail.netextras.com
- Use Authentication: ON (checked
- Username : you full email address
- Password: your password
Click Continue
Final Step
Click Create, if everything is correct your account should now be setup.

Close Preferences Window
Troubleshooting
Open Mail Preferences
Check Settings
Select account, then click on the advanced tab
Make sure the port is is set to 995 (for POP accounts) and that authentication is set to password.
Select/edit your Outgoing Mail sever list
You may only have one server in your list- that's OK, simply select "Edit SMTP Server list..."
Select Advanced
Check Outgoing Settings
Make sure your settings are as above
Turn on "Use Secure Sockets Layer"
Your "Authentication" method should also be set Password, and you should have your username (full email address) and your password filled in as well.
Check SSL for POP
Click the advanced tab
Make sure USe SSL is check (on) and port is setto 995
Your "Authentication" method should also be set Password
When asked to Save Changes, click Save.
You're DONE!
